As a person-centered therapist, empathy is at the foundation of my work. I approach each client with genuine curiosity, deep respect, and a strong desire to understand their unique journey. I believe that meaningful change happens in a space where individuals feel safe, supported and truly seen. In our work together, I aim to create that kind of environment. It’s a space where you can explore at your own pace, recognize patterns, process past experiences, and move forward with greater clarity, and lasting transformation.

Over the past seven years, I’ve worked in community mental health, crisis services, support groups and school-based counseling. These experiences have allowed me to support children, families, and adults navigating a wide range of emotional and behavioral challenges.

I enjoy working with individuals managing ADHD, trauma-related symptoms, anxiety, grief, depression and interpersonal difficulties, as well as supporting children with emotional and behavioral challenges. I also have a strong interest in helping parents navigate the complexities of divorce, co-parenting, and blended family dynamics.

I integrate a range of therapeutic modalities tailored to each client’s unique needs, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based
approaches, trauma-informed care, and Person-Centered Therapy. My approach is collaborative and flexible, allowing interventions to evolve alongside your growth. I see my role as helping you build insight, resilience, and the tools needed to become your own most valuable resource. It would be a privilege to walk alongside you in your healing process, and I welcome the opportunity to connect and explore whether we’re a good fit for working together.

Maria Castaneda is a prelicensed therapist practicing under the supervision of Dr. Shereen Mohsen.
