Dr. Sarah Asmussen

Dr. Asmussen provides comprehensive neuropsychological and psychological evaluations across the lifespan remotely in California and in our San Jose office. Her experience includes providing assessments to children ages 6 y/o and up, teens, adults and older adults. Potential diagnoses such as ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, mTBI, concussions, Dementia, Personality Disorders, Depression, Anxiety, etc. are often evaluated. In addition to supporting clients with psychological, neurological, neuoro-atypical, and other diagnoses, Dr. Asmussen uses a team approach to guide recommendations. Beyond a client better understanding the relationship between their brain and behavior, resources are provided and encouraged to guide and support a healthier journey.
Dr. Asmussen has been serving the Bay Area as a Neuropsychologist for almost a decade. Dr. Asmussen’s career spans two decades. Positions have included working for an outpatient clinic, in private practice in CA, as a Clinical Neuropsychologist and Senior Scientific Director at the Defense and Veterans Brain Injury Center, and in both inpatient and outpatient facilities (e.g., concussion clinic, memory clinic, poly-trauma unit, acute rehabilitation, burn unit, VA Palo Alto Hospice, and epilepsy monitoring unit).
She completed her two-year residency at Barrow Neurological Institute-St. Joseph’s Hospital specializing in Clinical Neuropsychology and her Internship at James A. Haley VA. Dr. Asmussen graduated with a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Palo Alto University, a Stanford affiliate, and was awarded a certification in Neuropsychology.
