Have You Noticed Possible ADHD Symptoms In Yourself Or Your Child?
Do you struggle to keep up with deadlines and complete tasks at work, even after trying every planner, journal, app, and system out there?
Are you worried that your child’s difficulty focusing or staying on task is quietly affecting their confidence and grades?
Do you frequently forget plans, lose track of time, or abandon routines before they ever become habits?
Maybe people close to you have mentioned your forgetfulness, or your manager has raised concerns about distraction during important meetings. Or perhaps your child’s teacher has flagged trouble staying seated, completing assignments independently, or waiting their turn.
These experiences don’t automatically mean ADHD, but they can be important signs worth exploring.
For families and adults seeking ADHD testing in San Jose, understanding what’s driving your symptoms is the first step toward real support.
Undiagnosed ADHD Can Pose Obstacles In Every Area Of Your Life
Adults navigating undiagnosed ADHD often find themselves struggling with more than just work performance. Relationships can feel strained when forgetfulness is misread as indifference. Domestic responsibilities pile up. Hobbies and personal goals stay perpetually half-finished.
Less than 20% of adults with ADHD have received a formal diagnosis or are currently being treated — meaning many people are managing real challenges without ever knowing why.
Children face their own set of obstacles. Keeping grades up, following classroom expectations, and building social connections can all become harder when ADHD goes unidentified.
If any of this sounds familiar, ADHD testing can be a genuinely clarifying step. Through a comprehensive ADHD assessment, you can identify possible causes of your symptoms, receive a formal ADHD diagnosis if appropriate, rule out or uncover other contributing conditions, and begin building a path toward real, lasting support.
Relucent Psychology Group offers thorough ADHD testing for San Jose and Bay Area residents — both in person and online.

What Does ADHD Testing for Adults Look Like?
Many people don’t realize that adults also experience ADHD. Even fewer, then, have a clear picture of what it means to have ADHD as an adult. While ADHD is something that is most commonly tested for in childhood, for various reasons, it can slip under the radar. The...
ADHD Can Look Very Different From Person to Person
Before pursuing AHDH testing, it helps to understand that ADHD doesn’t come in just one form. A formal ADHD diagnosis may reflect the inattentive type, the hyperactive-impulsive type, or a combination of both, and each presents differently.
People with the hyperactive-impulsive type tend to fidget, talk over others, or feel an internal restlessness that’s difficult to quiet. In children, this presentation is often the first one noticed by teachers and parents because its effects on the classroom environment are visible and immediate.
The inattentive type is often less obvious and frequently goes unrecognized for years, particularly in girls and adults. People with inattentive ADHD may appear spacey, forgetful, or disorganized. They often have difficulty initiating tasks, following through on projects, or tracking time accurately.
These aren’t character flaws or lack of effort. Their symptoms and ADHD testing can finally put a name to them.
Many adults pursuing an ADHD test for adults have spent decades wondering why focus and follow-through feel so much harder for them than for others. An ADHD test, online or in-person assessment, can offer the explanation they’ve been looking for.
Other Disorders Can Present Similarly To ADHD
ADHD shares symptoms with several other mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, sleep disorders, autism spectrum disorder, learning disabilities, and nonverbal learning disorder (NVLD). That overlap is one of the most important reasons to pursue professional ADHD testing rather than relying on a self-reported ADHD test online alone.
A comprehensive evaluation doesn’t just confirm or rule out ADHD — it builds a complete picture of what’s actually driving your experience. Research confirms that the majority of children with ADHD have at least one co-occurring condition, with anxiety and behavioral disorders among the most common. For adults, co-occurring anxiety and depression are especially prevalent. Understanding the full picture leads to better, more targeted treatment.
ADHD Testing Can Help You Receive an Accurate Diagnosis
At Relucent Psychology Group, we offer ADHD assessments for adults, teens, and children. If you’re searching for ADHD testing in the Bay Area or seeking a trusted ADHD diagnosis in San Jose, our evaluator will walk you through every step of this process, before, during, and after, so nothing feels uncertain or rushed.
What To Expect During ADHD Testing In San Jose or Online
Our complete ADHD testing process includes an intake session, cognitive and attentional, video feedback, and a records review if needed. Once testing is complete, we don’t just hand you a report and send you on your way. Our evaluator can provide direct referrals for ADHD therapy at our practice, support you in requesting workplace or school accommodations, assist with disability filing, and help set up an IEP for your child.
Our Approach To ADHD Tests For Adults, Teens, And Children

Testing begins with a 1.5-hour intake session. For children under 12, this session is attended by the caregiver(s) only. For minors 12 and older, the individual and caregiver(s) can decide who will attend the intake.
We request that at least one person with knowledge of the child’s developmental history be present. Adults are welcome to bring a support person to their intake, though a release of information form will be required.
Next, four hours of in-person or virtual testing covering cognitive abilities, attentional skills, and self- and/or other-reported observations. If academic performance is a concern or learning disabilities need to be ruled out, two hours of academic testing can be added at a reduced additional fee. We also offer separate learning disability testing if ADHD is not a primary concern.
If needed, we can also review relevant records such as school report cards with teacher comments, documentation of workplace difficulties, medical records, or past legal records. Documents exceeding five total pages are reviewed at an additional fee, quoted before services begin.
You May Still Have Questions: We Have Answers
How much does ADHD testing cost?
ADHD testing at Relucent Psychology Group is priced between $5,000 and $7,000. Most reports are completed within two to three weeks of finishing the testing process.
We are an out-of-network provider and do not bill insurance directly. However, we’re glad to provide a superbill upon completion of testing. To explore potential reimbursement, contact your insurance carrier and ask about your out-of-network benefits, deductible requirements, and reimbursement rates for the relevant CPT and ICD-10 codes.
Common ICD-10 codes used for ADHD evaluations include:
- F90.0 — ADHD, predominantly inattentive type
- F90.1 — ADHD, predominantly hyperactive-impulsive type
- F90.2 — ADHD, combined type
- F90.9 — ADHD, unspecified type
Is there a difference between virtual and in-person testing?
No, the accuracy and validity of our ADHD testing process are the same whether you come in person or complete your evaluation online. Both formats use nearly identical assessments, and both are clinically sound. That said, if you don’t have reliable technology at home or find it difficult to focus while working at a computer, in-person testing may feel more comfortable.
What if the evaluation shows I don’t have ADHD?
That’s still a valuable outcome. Even when ADHD testing doesn’t result in an ADHD diagnosis, the assessment explores potential mood, anxiety, personality, and environmental factors that may be contributing to your symptoms. Ruling out ADHD brings you meaningfully closer to an accurate explanation and the right support.
Is a private ADHD diagnosis worth the cost?
For many people, yes, and the reasons are practical. A formal ADHD diagnosis from a qualified psychologist opens real doors: workplace accommodations, academic support, disability documentation, and treatment that’s targeted to what’s going on.
Because Relucent operates outside of insurance networks, your evaluation is never shaped by what a carrier will cover or how many sessions they’ll approve. You get a thorough, unhurried assessment built entirely around you and not a billing code. For adults who have spent years wondering why focus or follow-through feels harder than it should, that clarity is often the most valuable investment they’ve made in themselves
What Happens After I Receive My ADHD Evaluation Results?
You’ll receive a detailed written report outlining your diagnosis, key findings, and personalized recommendations, whether that’s therapy, medication management, workplace or academic accommodations, or additional support services.
From there, you’re not on your own. Your evaluator will walk you through everything during your feedback sessions and can provide direct referrals, help you request accommodations at work or school, assist with disability documentation, or set up an IEP for your child. If ADHD isn’t the diagnosis, your report will still explain what is contributing to your symptoms and outline clear next steps forward.
